Think Peruvian Torch is than San Pedro? Think again.
The article to debunk the myth that Trichocereus peruvianus (Peruvian Torch) is “10x stronger” than Trichocereus pachanoi (San Pedro).
Rumors persist among mescaline enthusiasts that Peruvian Torch is “10x stronger” than San Pedro, However, there are a number of reasons for this confusion, including unsubstantiated claims in mescaline related literature.
The earliest reference supporting the myth seems to be in Peyote and Other Psychoactive Cacti, by Adam Gottlieb. In 1977 Gottlieb wrote, “T. peruvianus is purported to contain ten times the mescaline content of San Pedro.” He makes no mention of where this rumor came from and cites no sources to support it, but the claim remains in the 1997 reprint.
Cacti Myth Debunking – Peruvian Torch vs San Pedro, sets the record straight.
